Archive Files (Zip)

The Archive Files page lets you make compressed (zipped) archives using any files you select.

Automated Tutorial

The files must be in the current folder in the File Manager. The files may be in folders in current folder.

To create an archive:

  1. Enter a file name in the Name your Zip File box. The name must end with the ".zip" extension.
  2. Enter the desired file names or file extensions in the File Names area, separated by commas. Example: to include the file "Test.doc" plus all HTML and Excel files, type in "Test.doc, html, xls" (without the quotation marks).
  3. To Zip all files in the current folder except those listed in the File Names box, select "Exclude" from the Include/Exclude Files list.
  4. To zip the files in all selected subfolders, select "Yes" in the Include Subfolders list.
  5. Click on the Save button. The selected files are compressed, and the zipped file appears in the current directory.

You can also create zipped files by clicking on the Zip in Place option in any file or folder option box. This will zip the selected file or folder.

If you zip a folder, all files and subfolders in the folder will be zipped. When you unzip an archive containing a folder, the files (and subfolders) will appear in the same hierarchy they had when zipped.
